Information Lifecycle Management

Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) is a company-wide strategy for dynamic data management, based on the premise that business data have their own life cycle and that their value during this cycle changes. The company must store and manage these data according to their current value on devices with varying levels of performance, availability and cost.

The main objective of ILM is to find the right balance between business requirements for information access and minimizing the cost of storage, protection and management. ILM seeks to ensure:

  • storing all enterprise data in appropriate repositories in reaching reasonable cost of storing them, protect and manage the data,
  • the required performance data access and eliminate downtime and loss of data
  • compliance with legislative and corporate actions data storage
